We chose a quartz envelope with a short-wave infrared halogen element. The halogen cycle keeps the filament stable and helps prevent blackening, so output stays consistent over time. Quartz is tough, too. It shrugs off the thermal shock that comes with heating up and cooling down, again and again. The R7s base sits low and secure, lining up clean in the reflector assembly. That means you can wire it up quickly and cut downtime to a minimum.

On the blowing machine, this lamp zeroes in on the preforms and heats them evenly. That even heat matters—it gives you consistent stretch and wall thickness, shot after shot. Short-wave output penetrates fast, so you don’t get surface-only heating and cold spots. It warms up quickly, holds temperature steady, and installs with no fuss.

But there’s a trade-off to keep in mind: that 500W density creates serious local heat. Make sure your machine’s cooling and shielding are set up properly to protect nearby components and keep operators safe.
