What’s Inside
At the heart of this lamp is a quartz envelope. We chose quartz because it can handle extreme temperature swings and lets that high-intensity infrared energy pass right through. Inside, a tungsten filament runs in a halogen gas atmosphere. That gas kicks off the halogen cycle, which takes evaporated tungsten and puts it back onto the filament. This keeps the envelope from blackening and seriously extends the lamp’s life. We topped it off with an R7s connector—that double-ended pin base. It gives you a solid, low-resistance connection, and it’s an industry standard, so wiring it up and swapping it out is a breeze. The R7s design also gives the lamp the structural support it needs to sit securely in a reflector or fixture.
