Ever notice your PET preforms stretching unevenly? Or maybe the wall thickness is all over the place? It’s frustrating. Usually, when the heat field starts drifting, your first instinct is to think the whole oven needs a teardown. But here’s the thing: most of the time, it’s just the infrared lamps wearing out.
Let’s talk about the heat
We designed our replacement lamps for the KSB 4000 to slot right into the original electrical setup. No guesswork. We build them to handle high-voltage loads so the wattage stays steady from one end of the quartz tube to the other. Why does that matter? Because it kills those “cold spots” at the ends of the tube that mess up your bottles. If you’re running a high-capacity line, you’re probably chasing heat density. A higher wattage lamp pushes more IR energy into the preform. It works great, but it does put more stress on your power supply. Just double-check that your transformers can handle the draw, or you’ll be replacing burnt-out parts way too often.
The nuts and bolts
We use high-purity quartz glass. It’s simple, but it ensures the IR transmission is as clean as possible. Plus, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. That means it’s a drop-in replacement. You just wire it up and go—no need to mess around with modifying your lamp holders. Some of our tubes even have special coatings. Instead of just scorching the surface of the plastic, these coatings help the heat soak deeper into the PET.
Real-world advice
When you switch to these precision alternatives, you can actually tighten your temperature windows. The heat field becomes consistent, and you’ll see way less scrap hitting the floor. It just feels smoother. One quick tip: if you’re pushing these lamps to the max, the inside of your oven is going to get hot. Really hot. Make sure your cooling blowers are clean and actually working. If they’re clogged with dust, that quartz can overheat and crack, and nobody wants to deal with that mid-shift.
